Hello,

I had a ThinkPad X200 that had a 'defective BIOS'.
I also had another GOOD X200 system.
So I tried to reprogram it with SPEG.
But I couldn't fix it because I broke two X200 systems
while I was working on it.

I'm wondering what caused the failure to the GOOD system boards.

Here are the steps that I did.

1. Power Off
2. Removed backup battery
3. Disassembled X200 System board.
4 Removed the BIOS (MXIC 25L6405) from system board
5 Read it with SPEG
6 Soldering he BIOS IC to system board
7.Error occurred
- One long beep , two short beeps

When I tried to remove the BIOS IC, pins were connected together
because of soldering iron and soldering material.
Was shorting pins the reason to break it ?

Thanks.

It is clearily a hardware problem, or the flash are not working or not properly soldered or else.

Hi,

I solved it by soldering and programing again.
I used '/d' option when I wrote it.

Thanks.
