Hello,
I thaught I am posting my experiance to prevent others from making the same mistakes.
I was trying to touch the points with needle-tips when somehow the ground fell of Sad
Now the itester does not synch anymore and the voltage is always around 0,6.
Did I fry the interface somehow?
Does anybody have experiance if the m232 chip is damaged and puts out these symptoms?
Maybe I will build the interface again...

Tod.

The TTL part of the MAX may screw up easy sometimes. You should check that out.

Hmm, I am wondering if the needle by hand part is wise.
Any tips how to keep the hands steady or the needles in place?

I was wondering if I short circuited the tp1 and tp2 while finding the points. Could that damage the mainboard or the interface?

I did not find anything about the actual touching of the points. Much less any pictures. Maybe everybody held their breath trying to hit the points.

I have one more max chip. I will swap it out and check the interface again.

btw, the software is not very single person w/ two hands friendly. How about checking first for the filename and then waiting for the touching and displaying somethink like "Press a key to start..."

How about typing the command and pressing <enter> at the right moment?

Yes, we can insert a preset timer, that's a good idea for a next version. You may set, let's say about 20 seconds delay, launch the software, keep the probes in place, take a deep breath and wait, and wait...and wait...oh, it's done. Very Happy

Or you may setup up a batch file ( let's say "read.bat") and use "ping" command as a timer:

Code:
@echo off
ping localhost /n 10
rpc8394 dump.bin

In this example ping waits for 10 echoes.. about 10 seconds.
