I built the SIPROG reader and connected it to my thinkpad but the software still says it can't find the eeprom. I ran itester and it shows both in and out matching perfectly (I assume that's good as disconnecting the reader results in in showing 0 and out alternating between 1 and 0.).
The wires are solidly on the atmel chip and ground is screwed onto the vga port. I simply twisted everything together and used a d-sub connector from radio shack. I have triple checked my wiring and the whole thing from the pc to the chip is about a foot long.
The pc is a 1ghz dell p3 running windows xp. It has but one serial port that is working (tested with a serial mouse).
Thanks!
---edit---
I tested the reader with a multi meter and both in and out lines move between -.77v (both at 0 in itester) to 4.72 (both at 1 in itester). |

Hi,
I can only help if I see some photos. I need to see the interface, the eeprom connections, the serial port connector, etc. - in details. _________________ Victor Voinea

The yellow wire is SCL
The red is SDA
The black is ground
I used a multi meter to test that the serial port was good and that all connections were solid.

Another closer picture of the components.

The white wire is on SCL
the bare wire is on SDA
Ground is not pictured but is connected to the vga port via a screw. Proper ground is verified with good conductivity with every ground point I tried on the motherboard.
I use a similar low budget setup to program atmel tiny chips with no problems on the same computer. |
