R52 uses PC8394T-VJG. This is a 100 pin Super IO chip with TPM/TCPA functions.
The software to unlock R52 is PC8394 programming tools.

1-is there included the programmer in the full package? (if not is it easy to build? )
2-shall the chip be removed from the board b4 reading/writing

1. No the interface is available separatelly. Is easy to build, some skills are required but overall is quite easy.
2. No, the chip stays there. The programming will be done in-system
3. No. Limited knowledge is required to build the device - medium to low, I must say. In rest, any kid can unlock this, hooking up the interface and running the software.
And the best part is that you don't need to take the laptop apart (R52/T43). If you already dismanlted it, my advice is to assemble back, you won't need to do this. _________________ Victor Voinea

so which circuit interface is recommended for unlocking IBM R52? SI-PROG interface or MAX232 interface?
so currently only RPC8394 can read the dump file for R52 right? |
