Hi guys. First of all, thanks for a hard work you all have done.
Now,I got a T40,unsoldered it and tried to read the data with Elnec Seeprog which shoul support this type of eeprom /Atmel 24RF08C/ but all I got was an empty /blank/ .bin file ,there were only FF FF and so on written.
I think the eeprom reading was unsuccesful.
So I soldered the eeprom back to the board to see that something changed and that I havenīt damaged the eeprom.
At first try I got errors -0271 -date/time
-0187 EAIA access error
-0191 security
At this moment I could access the BIOS,SPV was not set,and the serial number was fffffffffffff I think because it is stored in atmel and I had a bad contact/soldering.
So I soldered it again. Now I have error 0177 and the system stops at POST.
What should I do now?

Read it in system with R24RF08, and see if the eeprom responds.
If not, check the soldering. If all ok, then the eeprom has CRC error and you have to buy W24RF08 for that. Sorry, but a lot of people had the same experience |

Thank you.
I cannot manage to read the eeprom with R24RF08 nor with anything else, I got +++eeprom not available+++ at best.
Will check soldering again and I will try the readout process on some different computer as well, but at the moment the error code is 0177,I manage to get into BIOS and now the SPV is set to enable so I think the soldering eeprom-PCB is OK at the moment. |

Hello,
First off you must read the eeprom with R24RF08. No need to remove the chip as our program is able to do it in-system.
As soon as you have the dump, we can fix the CRCs. The service is free when you buy W24RF08 license that will be needed to complete the task.
We can offer you some support if you post some pictures with the interface or else.
[Edit] Yes, the eeprom soldering is ok, otherwise it shows EAIA error _________________ Victor Voinea

Hi again.
Any news? Yes. R24rf08 works fine.. The simple connection with 2 resistors and 2 zeners works fine. Only thing that dinīt worked well was me
I couldnīt read the eeprom because I havenīt followed the instructions, yes human factor
So what I did wrong? I soldered the wires to eeprom and then I started the laptop and then i connected interface to com port....
Now I started the laptop, and then soldered the interface which was already connceted to com port. Ran r24rf08 SUCCESSFULLY!
Ran the ibmpass2.1 lite.
The password was DRU1MZ
I am so happy guys, after 3 long days and night I got this bastard working, many many thanks to all you guys, lets everybody learn from my mistake. good luck and THANK YOU |
