Hi,

Removing passwords is just an unusual job for me because I'm mostly just repairing laptops (So if the dead ones then have a password I have to deal with it).

I can remove password from any Latitude but it's rather a hardware unlock than the software one....the procedure mostly consist of replacing the multi-IO chip made by smsc (MECxxxxx).

I know of 3 methods removing the password in new dells:
1) Change the chip where the actual locking info is stored (MEC chips)
2) Put in the manufacture mode (Prevent bios from reading service tag....) the fun part is that in new models the service tag is actually stored in bios (I didn't investigated where exactly it's stored) but I often get a new motherboards with no service tag set - If I read bios from such a motherboard and flash it to the locked unit - Manufacture mode and you can set new service tag and password.
3) Master password (generated depending your service tag)

Unfortunately I don't own the master password generator - and I can't find it anywhere.
There is a few people who has it and so they are offering unlock service ($50-$100) I even get a price of $30 but....I really don't want to pay this money Smile (So I'm always considering if to spend $30 or to dismantle and solder the laptop).

Does anyone here know of someone who has the generator? I'm maybe wrong and the "generator" is just a guy who sit on dell tech terminal and has an access to it's password database (the same how it once have been with Nokia phones).

If you have it...I'm willing to pay or exchange for a LOT of notebook schematics (Yes the real schematics which only Chinese and some Russians have)....I have something around 1000 diagrams!

Best regards,

Shef @ Petr
