To start, thanks for this forum. This is what I did. I built the simple-i2cprog. Checked it with the itester, worked fine. Connected i2cprog to PC via Com1, connected IMB TP to i2cprog Gnd,SDA,SCL. I used command prompt to execute r24c01 instead of r24rf08. I did get a .bin file and open with IBMpass 2.1 Lite. Found my SVP. Disconnected IBM TP SCL, SDA, GND from i2prog. Cut wires from eeprom just long enough that if I have to reconnect did'nt have to resolder at eeprom. Rebbot IBM TC was promtped for PW typed in PW, but just froze, nothing. Powered down same thing just froze after typing in PW. Powered down restarted, this time was not prompted for PW but froze when pressed F1 with message "Entering Bios setup". Restarted two more times, no video. De-soldered wires from eeprom restarted got video back with error 0177. Ok, reconnected everything was able to read eeprom no errors but when I viewed PW it was missing a zero and a letter g I edited to read like the original PW. Original .bin file size is 128 bytes the second is 1.00 KB. My question is what can I do now. Will the w24rf08 do the job for me? Thank in advance for all your posts and hopefully to a positive reply!

Hello,

I think there was a short circuit on eeprom wires for sure, the laptop had problems starting and the eeprom was corrupted.

Yes, we can solve the CRC fault all the time, you have to read the eeprom with R24RF08 to get a valid dump (in fact you just did it second time), then buy W24RF08 license.
Email us both register.doc and binary dump(s) afterwards and all will be fine.

Hi Victor, I just tried to run w24rf08 for the first time, I have buy it. Well, so much for that. If you could just answer my question please. (error 0175 and 0177) I almost forgot how could I have dumped a valid .bin if the error is already present on the second dump? Thank you!

I don't think so..

CRC repair service is available for our registered customers. So, why don't you send an email at support-at-allservice.ro to see who you really are and to take care of the problem...

Thanks
