hi
can anyone please help i have a sony vaio vgn-a117s which i was given by my brother. i currently can not use it because it is requesting for a bios password at startup. i cannot even boot from CD. i have tried removing the cmos battery for 8hrs it still can't work. The serial number is as follows

s/n: 28173550 5602138

Hello,
I believe this Sony laptop generates an hex code after a third incorrect password, I own a VGN-A130 and have tried the utility to generate a master password but it does't work for this model. The message I get on-screen is similar to (the hex code changes everytime):

Password check failed
E8D9
Fatal Error... System Halted.


For the serial number you posted, the master password is: 5270098, but I don't think is going to work, you're going to need to read the eeproms on the motheboard and then patch the one that stores the password.

Hi

i have tried the password and it failed. the error code i got after three attempts was like this:

Password check failed
E90A
Fatal Error... System Halted.

What the best solution? please help
