I'm in the middle of building the SIPROG and went to radio shack for the parts... The zener's I ended up with have these specs and I'm wondering if these will work for the interface?
Voltage: 5.1V
Current: 49ma
Max Power dissipation 1.0W
I read through the specs for the one listed on the schematics and it seems to be 500mw instead of 1.0w? Will this cause me problems?

Well, I built the adapter and tried it out... now the thinkpad is kicking back these errors:
0271 Date and time error.
0187 EAIA data access error
0197 Invalid remote change requested.
and this is what I got when I tried to dump the eeprom:
initializing timer...19631 OK!
Reading eeprom...

err2: 170:128

Done.

I'm running a thinkpad T42, so now I'm guessing I've fried the security chip and it's time to buy a new one? |

Hi,
The eeprom is not fried (it is not that the security chip, anyway).
I think the solderings caused a bad contact between chip and PCB.
EAIA error means that BIOS can't access the chip and apparently either R24RF08. The Eeprom is not powered correctly.
Also check if you wired the right pins. PIN #1 is marked on eeprom. |

I shortened the wires coming off of the controller and switched to 30 gauge for the wires that were soldered to the chip.. It worked perfectly! GREAT INFO HERE! |
