Hi

got an Thinkpad with Supervisor Password set.
I downloaded all the stuff from here, built the small interface, opened the TP61, plugged everything together and dumped the bin file.
IBM pass did read something, from which i suppose that this might be the pwd ;)
Problem is that it contains a uppercase letter and the '>' sign.
I'm not able to fill in this signs to the TP with the (american) keyboard. Only beep :(((
I know i'm stupid, but usually i can get through things like this withe the help of Google :)
Any help?
Before i will throw this #?$%& thing out of the window :)

greets Jo

It may be TCPA lock, send the file to support-at-allservice.ro to be able to confirm it

Hello all,
I am having a similar issue with the T61p. The strangest part is that there never was an svp set for this computer or if there was, it was blank. I was able to change bios settings prior to removing the CMOS battery. I do recall a prompt being brought up but am unsure whether it was the SVP or POP prompt since I believe the symbol is the same for both. I would guess that it was asking for the SVP since it was required before entering the bios. I always just pressed enter and entered no characters.
I had to remove the CMOS battery because I fiddled with the display settings to troubleshoot a video card issue and couldn't see a display to properly reset the bios and get my display back. After resetting the bios by unplugging the batt, my display was back but with an SVP!
I built the board, triple checked everything, connected in the proper order but am getting an Error eeprom can't be read when trying to create the dump file.
Are all T61p's TCPA locked? Would you also be able to help me unlock mine?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

You should open up your own thread, btw.

After reading your story, I can tell you that SVP was set all the time.
If it lets you enter BIOS in user mode by just hitting <ENTER> then POP is blank, but SVP is there. Time settings were lost when you removed the CMOS/RTC cell and you must correct that in BIOS or you're locked out, that's why you need the password now.

I can only help if I see what you've done, the interface, connections, etc. So start a new topic and past some pictures there.
