I've managed to get a dump from this laptop, but I can't find the password.

All I can find at 330 is null characters, any suggestions.

[removed] are the two dumps I've made.

Hello,

The laptop has TCPA lock. Normally you need to buy the eeprom writer ($30) and the service ($25) but being an old model we can give you a free service.
For further information emal at support_at_allservice.ro

I also have a T42 and have got the bin file, and line 330 has some data, but with the AA off, it appears encoded as:

?&??????

and with AA on I get (fL) but it is not the password.

Switching to the alternate sancode code I end up with (SR), and that still won't let me in.

I have run the IBMpass Lite from windows and from a dos prompt with the same results.

I have the monitor and pad lock icon, and can't get past it to put a new hard drive in.

Could this also be the same problem RichyFreeway had??

If not, is there something else I can do try?

Thanks....

PS. On boot before the lock screen, I get 2 errors, one for the date, and one for some attempted access, due to cmos battery being disconnected to eliminate the other possible BIOS password option.

ERROR
0271: Check date and time settings
ERROR
0176: System Security - The system has been tampered with.

Need to see the dump, it may be TCPA locked. support_at_allservice.ro
In that case you must buy the eeprom writer to get the service done.

Howdy Victor,

You may have already received the file, I sent it earlier, then got tied up on the phone helping someone with w7.

No real rush for me, I understand what you do and what you face daily, and I am amazed at your response times and how much you do on here. I too am busy helping so many people it seems I never get a break, but the ability to help others is a good feeling.

Enjoy...
