Hello deffc0n,
I have tried this procedure only once but it worked:
1- First make a backup of the original BIOS stored in chip MX25L1605 (2-3 copies, compare them).
2- Download the latest BIOS update for this model and extract the firmware file from it.
3- Flash chip MX25L1605 with firmware file.
4- Once the laptop powers up without asking for password you still need to set the Model Number, Serial Number, etc. among other information, info that was stored in the chip. Need a DMI update utility or similar.
4a - In this step what I did is that I dumped chip MX25L1605 and then I went into BIOS (Setup) and set a known USERNAME and SUPERVISOR password, then I dumped the chip again and compared the files to take note which bytes changed. Once you know this you patch the original file, the one that you uploaded.
From step 4 I did it all with software like "RW-Everything" (to dump the firmware from memory), WinHex (to compare and edit files), then I remember I forced the BIOS update with WIN+B at startup with the original file patched.
