Hi Mourad,
I have used program RW-EVERYTHING to obtain a copy of BIOS stored in RAM memory, once you run the program in the main menu you select SPECIFIC >> MEMORY >> 512K ROM, a new window opens and you click on icon "Save as binary" (Shift+F2). In new window the "End Address" is FFFFFFFF, depending on the size of the BIOS you set the "Start Address" as follows (lenght is automatically modified based on Start and End Address values):
2MB BIOS
Start Address: FFE00000, End Address: FFFFFFFF, Lenght: 200000
1MB BIOS
Start Address: FFF00000, End Address: FFFFFFFF, Lenght: 100000
512KB BIOS
Start Address: FFF80000, End Address: FFFFFFFF, Lenght: 80000
256KB BIOS
Start Address: FFFC0000, End Address: FFFFFFFF, Lenght: 40000
then press OK and save the file.
Another software I've used is "Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0.zip", google it (don't remove quotation marks " "), you get the same results as RW-Everything. Run software and then check option CUSTOM, select BIOS size, press READ and then BACKUP, set a filename and you're done.
Depending on the BIOS chip that the motherboard has, you may be able to use utility FLASHROM under Linux, but it usually doesn't like SPI chips found in current portable computers (there's a disclaimer that says it may cause problems with KeyBoard Controller/Embedded Controller). With this utility you can read the BIOS directly from the chip, I've used it a couple of times.

|
|
hi
thanks for your replay to my post
i wanted to get the password from a toshiba tecra m5 i did get another one with no password and i wanted to use the one without password to unlock the one with the password
i did read that the password is stored on eeprom ref 24c08 and there is a comparator that compare data from the 24c08 eeprom and the bios
so i will try to change the password to the tecra without password and see the deference i will use the program that drgn997 did give me and i will use a programmer to read the 2408 eeprom
if you have any other ideas please help me with |
