|
|
Hi Victor!
I have a Thinkpad T30 that I am about to give up on. Using r24rf08.exe to read the eeprom chip, and examining the bin file using IBMpass2.exe, the password is revealed as nothing but 00s. I have succesfully read the eeprom a number of times with the same result, and have tested my simple cable on other Thinkpads with success. On POST the T30 laptop immediately wants a password, and hitting the Return key does not satisfy it. This model does have a secure chip in it, according to the specs.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

When the reader fails, after posting an error, it makes a 0 kb file.
If your file is 1024 full of zeroes (weird!) that is not changing the problem:
The circuit is not good/wrong connections to COM or PROM.
T30 is one of the easiest to unlock, the SIPROG is all you need.
Please when post a problem, attach some pictures of your work so we can help you better. If you can do it here email them to our support address. |

The bin file that is created is not all zeroes, just the password section, as the laptop serial number info at the beginning of the bin is correct. On other Thinkpads I created a password and was able to display the password after reading the created bin file, so I believe my configuration is OK. So it appears that this T30 has a null password? Is that possible?

Of course it is possible when the SVP is not set. That means you have a POP or HDP.
POP=remove the CMOS bat for a second. POP and SVP have the same POST icon
HDP=remove drive. |
