The interfaces can be used to read I2C eeproms, in general. But the procedure described here it is for ThinkPads, to recover supervisor password, not HD password.
Oh well, unless the SVP and HDP is the same, of course.
Do you have a HDD coming from a ThinkPad? Or is Fujitsu-Siemens laptop? |

Atari, when a HDD is locked you can't perform read/write on it until the drive is unlocked. Is just simply as that, if you could write sectors then the drive was not ATA locked. It is a difference between ATA lock and some software like securedrive or so that innoculates partion table and/or boot sectors or encrypt the drive contents.
The only way to unlock a drive is to provide the USER or MASTER password in some cases. These passwords can be found using brute force and dictionary attack methods with special software like EraseON included in HDST 1.1a |

Sorry, but I don't think so. Any software like MHDD is asking you the password.
Some fujitsu drives support special reserved command to unlock the drive. But doing this with MHDD...I don't think so.

whit f. explorer you can read service areas, as I remember older ver. of mndd had f.& ibm explorer in it..
btw when you read 12,13 addres from unlocked hd, then you can write them to locked one |

Hey, that MHDD don't have IBM? explorer or else. Once and for all, a locked drive can't be accessed until you provide a valid password, I hope is not that hard to understand that.
As I said some Fujitsu and WD drives support mfg unlock commands. But even then read/write access is denied until the drive will be lock free. |
