Hi,

first, you are doing great job here. I am trying to recover my supervisor password of my IBM T42 Notebook.

Question 1:

Here is a photo of my Serial Bus Cable/circuit, can you please check it, whether it is ok fpr using to recover the password?

I have used a special made Serial/parallel cable for this purposes. The cable has a parallel female and Serial male and female connections.

I will post also photos a little bit later today.

When i wan to use the 24RF08 Programm, it is always saying to me "Circuit not found or Bus Error".

I also have some problems with Iittester Program. when i start it, my SDA and SCL Outputs are toggling with 5V and 0V but what is the SDA Input? How can i be sure, that my circuit is working?

Should i beter use just a normal Serial Female, instead of my cable?

Question 2:

i am interested to buy the T43/T60 program kit, the one for 110$ , but is a complete built circuit included in this set, so that i just get the set, solder the right cable to the right places, and can recover the password, or do i need also again completely build a circuit myself to able to use the program.

Thanks for any tips, helps and anserws in advance.

Greetz from Germany.

s.

Hi,

My advice is to leave that cable. Buy a DB9 female and build it nice and clean. Anyway, from your pictures, the resitors have wrong value (must be 2.2KOhms, yours have 22Ohms) and the circuit is not built correctly as far as I could see.

The PC8394 tools do not include the interface, this can be bought separatelly. However the schematic is included so you can build one yourself, is based on MAX232.
