|
|
Hi,
Got a T410.
I get 0271 at boot. Read through all the forum and I have removed the CMOS battery and battery power pack. Just running on mains adaptor. On POST I always get to the POP prompt. Cant get to F1 or BIOS to change date. SVP is set. I dont know it. That's why I am here
I have built the circuit. Ready to dump the security eeprom. Just need to get past the 0271 prompt.
It's probably been asked so many times so sorry to bother you if this is a simple answer.
Any help appreciated.
TIA |

Hi,
POP has been gone when you removed the CMOS minicell. What you're facing right now is the SVP, you got to enter BIOS and save a new CMOS configuration in order to pass the POST.
So, dump the eeprom and let's see what you get. _________________ Victor Voinea

Thanks heaps for your reply.
AH! so this is good.
So just to clarify. With the CMOS battery out I am already at the SVP prompt. All I have to do is connect the GND first, then SDA and then SDL and run R24RF08 on the other PC. Is that correct?
Is the POP passwrd icon the same as the SVP icon as that is what I am seeing?
Thanks again. |

Thanks Victor.
Well I tried it. I followed your instructions exactly but I dont think it worked.
It successfully created a bin file but only 128 bytes long. The last byte in the file is 0x7F so cant get to 0x330.
I tried this twice but same result.
It said it set the timer to 27462
and the base address is AEh.
I have tried with the CMOS battery removed and plugged back in.
Same prompt. |

BTW your download gave me program r24c01 and a patcher not r24rf08.
I presume this is the same program I must use. I didnt run the patcher. |

I guess you use some sort of cheap AV that deletes R24RF08 without warning. Let me guess, it is AVG or NAV _________________ Victor Voinea

Man you are good!
You were correct....of course Sorry but I am a Linux/Unix guy and forget about this AV crap
The technician PC has Avast on. So I turned it off and I got r24rf08 program.
I connected and ran again using this. This time I get a full bin. But the passwd at 0x338 and 0x340 although the data is the same, it is none ASCII alpha/numeric characters. All sorts of amulets, asterisk etc. I hit AA but still garbage.
Strangely this data is the same as what I saw using r24c01 but at addess 0x38 and 0x34.
Here is what I did:
1. Unplugged power on the T410.
2. Unplugged the battery pack.
3. Shorted the pins at the CMOS connector.
4. Waited a minute to ensure all power in the CMOS had dissipated.
5. Plugged the CMOS battery back.
6. Plugged the battery pack back in.
7. Started the T410.
8. Press F1 at boot.
9. Screen says going to Setup but got same 0271 message and SVP icon.
10. Connected the GND, SDA followed by SCL in that order.
11 Ran command r24rf08 mybin.bin on the technican PC, got a dump file.
12. Ran ibmpass2 with the bin.
13. checked at address 0x338 and 0x340.
14. I only see garbage non-printable characters.
Did I do something wrong?
Thanks so much for all your help Victor !!! |

Yes, I got tired of those AV products. Just imagine how these companies manipulate the software market, people belive all the crap they're selling.
I think the laptop could be locked with the TCPA thing. Please email me the dump at support-at-allservice.ro to check it out. _________________ Victor Voinea

Yeah, Silicon Valley probably exists solely on the income from companies like NAV etc. But Windows is brain dead machine anyway. Someday.....not too far distant future.....Linux will make Windblows go away
I sent you the bin file.
Thanks again. |
