Hello. I have a t61p i need to recover the password for. I have built the circuit but am having issues with dumping the file. I have used this same setup with the same test computer on an older thinkpad and it worked. But in this case i am getting circuit not found or bus error, sometimes i get epprom not available. One out of the 15 times i tried, not restarting or touching circuit just retyping the command i was able to get a dump file. Ill post that with a picture of the circuit and dump. Any Ideas? I did read someone that this uses TPCA encryption.

1. Is my circuit ok?
2. If Encrypted do i need to build the driven-i2cprog if i need to write to the epprom?
3. Which product do i need to purchase if needed. I see a full kit for $125.

4. Thank you

Hello,

1. I can't say that for sure. I can't see some parts like the COM connector in that picture. However the dump is just garbage.

2. No, simple circuit will be fine too if you can make it work. Of course, the driven interface is better in all situations but is not mandatory.

3. No, T61 requires R24RF08 (freeware) and W24RF08 (license needed). In case the TCPA is on then you will need W24RF08 ($30) + TCPA ($25) service and to send us the eeprom dump.

If you require a driven interface we have them ready made in stock. Price is $35+$10 shipping just email us at support-at-allservice.ro if you want to order one.

[Edit]
4. You're welcome Smile

Finally got the circuit to work, turns out the serial cable i was using didn't work, might have been to long.

I sent the bin file with the payment information, TCPA unlock service and
W24RF08 license.

Any idea how long it will take to get that file back? Not trying to rush but I have to turn in the laptop in the next 12 hours or lose the customer. Sad

Thanks
