Hello everyone and thank you for this interesting forum.
When discovering the ATMEL eeprom on my TP42 motherboard, I got very surprised to find a 28-pin eeprom, instead of an 8 or 14-pin Atmel.

May I kindly ask you these questions :

1) Can I still use IBMPASS ?
2) Can I still use SIPROG or do I have to use DRIVEN-PROG, or are none of them compatible with this eeprom ?
3) Can anyone help me finding the correct connections on the eeprom ?

Here are the indications I found on the eeprom :

Atmel A
AT97SC3201
4H5242
0446 PH

Thank you anyway for your help.

Well, that is the TPM, the security chip in fact.
But the password is in the Atmel 24RF08 and is located under the palmrest.
AT97SC3201 is used to encrypt data and when is activated to store the SVP hash.
To unlock the TP, the only chip you have to deal with, is 24RF08 (8 pins)

Hello Bob and thank you for your help.

I will try to find 24RF08 this evening.
Is it located on the upper side of the board, or on the rear side ?

The eeprom is on the upper side, right under the touchpad.
Bob said is located under the palmrest, you have to remove the keyboard, palmrest and WIFI card.

T4X 8pin 24RF08
