At first, I couldn't change the property in the bios setup even if I could access to the Bios setup.
It only says that I can't change the property in user mode and I need to consult the system supervisor.
But I can boot up and I used my laptop well.

Later, I wanted to change the bios setting so I consulted with the IBM tech guy and he says that the bios password should be removed.

So naively, I pulled out the backup battery hoping that it happens.
Now, it displays poweron password prompt after showing some error like check date and time.....and I can't access to the Bios at all.

What should I do????

Thanks....

You had the SVP set but the Power-on password was blank. Before removing the CMOS cell, if you had to press Enter and you could see the BIOS but couldn't change nothing there, that's right.

Well, the tech guy is right you need to find the SVP -supervisor pwd.
X41 uses PCA 24S08 instead or 24RF08, this is a Phillips replika. Dismantle the laptop and search for this chip, the procedure to recover the password is the same, read with R24RF08 and use IBMpass 2.0 to translate in ASCII.

Good luck

Hi, first thanks a lot for fast reply.
I found the P24S08 in the back of the main board capsulated with some black insulation tapes.

And I used the simple circuit and I have consistent error message, "eeprom is not available" I doule, triple check the circuit and the wires on the P24s08 but I found nothing wrong...

I will send you the picture of the circuit and the chip...

Thank you again..~
