Ouups... sorry, I inverted 2 wires.
I fixed it now and could retrieve a valid .bin file.

BUT... I found 2 different pwds on the lines 0330 and 0340.
The one on line 0330 is alphanumeric without spaces.
The one on line 0340 is also alphanumeric but there are spaces between some characters.

When trying them, none of them worked.

Can someone give me the procedure to follow with the info found on the eeprom?

Thank you !

Not at all! Your dump has the same word on 0x338 and 0x340.
Translated is "BRQCO00". Watch out, the last three are O00 =oscar, zero, zero!

Hello again Victor

I can't access the SVP zone on my tp42, even when following the instructions on the IBM manual...

When boot screen appears, I push on the "access IBM" button, but I arrive automatically on the HDP screen.

Can you explain me the procedure to access SVP or explain me what to do :?

Thank you again!

Well, my yummy one, that means the HDP is set.
Remove the hard drive and you'll be able to get into BIOS.
To unlock drives a special software must be used - HD security tools.
Or buy another one.

Sorry that I ask, it is kind of unexpected thing to see a girl trying to unlock laptops. I hope is not your boy friend's TP or worse, your husband's? Very Happy

Dear Victor,

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's the husband speaking, because I'm working on my wife's email, from the computer I configured for her...
Now, if you'd like to imagine me as a blonde with dream mensurations, please feel free to...Very Happy

Let's go back to the point:
1) I know the HDP.
2) I removed the HDD and tried to enter the bios, but this did not help. Confused
I get to a screen proposing me two possibilities : go on with boot sequence or enter bios, but both do not recognize the retrieved pwd...

By the way, as the SVP seems to be written in caps when viewing the result of the .bin file in IBMPASS, do I need to press "Caps Lock" or "Shift" while entering the SVP, or doesn't it change anything (especially for the numeric characters)?

Can you please explain me step by step what I need to do ?

Thank you very much !

Laughing

No matter if you use CAPS or not, the machine will convert them to scancode and the pasword will be the same.

The SVP is correct and must work. I checked the sum, etc. and all are correct. Well, if the laptop has a standard english keyboard.
Do you have an AZERTY one? If yes, try "BRACO00".
