You can't find something that doesn't even exist . Remove the CMOS batt to get rid of POP. |

Not quite, you could consider it a nice experience. |

hello all,
I am bringing up this old thread because I currently have exactly the same problem. My eeprom dump is similar to the posted one above, in that there is no data at 0x330. This leads me to believe that I have a Power On Password as well. How then do I go about removing the CMOS battery? |

If 0x338-0x33E are blanks then the SVP is not set. By blanks I mean 0x00, not some spaces seen on the right panel.
Is removing the CMOS battery (3V cell) a problem? What model is it? _________________ Victor Voinea

I am working with a Thinkpad X30.
Yes, I believe 0x338-0x33E are blank. I attached a screen shot, correct me if I am wrong.
I have tried removed the CMOS battery and leaving it out overnight, I attached another picture below. Starting it up this morning still prompts for a password whether I attempt to boot or attempt to enter the BIOS.
Did I remove the correct battery?
If so, what should I do from here to figure out the password?
Many Thanks,

No need to let it that long, just short the 2 pins after you remove the 3V cell (and the main battery! do not forget that).
In your case, if the PO was cleared succesfully then is about the HD password. Not the SVP and not the POP. it has a cylinder on screen, right? |

Thanks for all the help guys.
Turns out I simply didn't remove the main battery and short the 2 pins. Thanks again. Now have a working laptop =) |
