w530 has passphrase enabled from factory.
We must patch it so you need W24RF08 + 1Additional service

1. Goto our store www.allservice.ro/store/utils/ and purchase W24RF08 + 1 Additional service then download and install W24RF08 (to same PC used with reader is preferable)
2. Fill out the registration form (register.doc that is in the kit) with payment details and hardware ID generated by the program and email it to us along with the binary file

Hello I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Helix which I want to find the BIOS password to. I have most of the components to build the Simple Interface but the problem is that none of my computers have a native serial port. Would I be able to dump the eeprom if the Simple interface was connected to my computer using a Serial to USB adapter?

Hello,

Most probably yes if the adapter has UART inside.
But why not use a card port as in express card or pc card?

Regards

For the moment, I didn't find a proper way to unlock these other than using a customized BIOS, but I still do tests in my spare time and when is finished it will be posted in the forum.

Hi everyone!
I've got locked laptop Lenovo T410. Actually, It's locked after I just opened it to wipe all dust inside, disconnect keyboard and so on. Now I can see icon at the beginning of startup asking me for password (power-on password). I disconnected the CMOS battery to fix it. It ended up that I now have one more line "error, set time and date". I can't get access to BIOS.
I found the EEPROM IC on the board, but I haven't got any COM port on any laptops to connect drawing (simple one) to read the password from eeprom.
Can I use USB somehow or buy USB TTL UART (which has only RX, TX, GND, 3,3V, 5V outputs)?
I would preciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

You may use a USB UART adapter that has ALL the COM signals processed. Only RX/TX are not enough, in fact are not even used here.

Or even better: buy a COM port card, such as ExpressCard or PCMCIA/PCCARD if one of your laptops supports these.

Hello,

does anybody know where to find the eeprom on a W701 mainboard? It is not similar to the W700 location... I have the mainboard planar FRU 60Y5650.

EDIT: Found the location of the P24S08 Chip. Sadly it is located on the back side of the mainboard. Lot of work...

@ Mod: you can use the pictures, if you want.

Greetz,

Ok, thanks for the pics. I will look into our archives to see if they're missing then we will update the forum.

Anyway, if you don't find what you need here:
http://www.allservice.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3521#3521

then shoot an email to support-at-allservice.ro

Cheers
