I (hypotetically) have Think Pad x230 locked.
Is writing CoreBoot will solve the problem?
(I know, it has it's limits... but it's ok for me.)

PS: thanks for great resource!

Coreboot will not do any good. cause password is stored in a different place not in BIOS. Plus Coreboot is so obsolete that has no sense, really. I don;t know if the new EC firmware versions for X230 will accept an unsigned Coreboot anymore.

But you could simply unlock the laptop with our help. If the passphrase is OFF then is free. If it is ON then you'll pay $30 for the eeprom writer license and we will prepare the eeprom dumps as a bonus.

My friend uses x230 with CoreBoot and Linux with no hassle. There are some problems if you run Windows, but it's not my case.

There is project for patching x230 EC (embedded controller) firmware.

It's aim is primarily to use classic keyboard, but there are some other hacks... Needs more closer look.
