Hi,

Can anyone tell me where the security chip on the Thinkpad X60 is located? I intend buying the software to unlock the supervisor password, but if the chip is not easily accessible then I will not attempt it. I am only locked out of the BIOS and can still use Windows in the meantime.

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi,

did one today, not very easy! You need to totally disassemble the laptop and remover some cover tape.
The chip has tiny connector which are not easy to solder, they are really really tiny.
I've done lots of laptops in the past so it was not too hard for me, if you are doing as firsttimer I recommend to leave it as it is.

Hi, RoelG!
I have some questions!

1. What a chip number was on the x60?

On my IBM I've got ATMEL 612
25010AN
SU27

Is it right?

2. What kind of a software you've been using?
3. Have you had any problems in relation to the matter?

Thanks a lot!

First of all you need to buy the kit (software and manual) from allservice.
Also you need to build a device.
Once recieved all details are in there, software and manual.

They also will help you locate the chip and if they are to busy you can try to contact me, but they will help you for sure.

You will get a "direct link" from us. The software is commercial, what is so hard to understand?
