i cannot find a chip called the 24rf08 chip, but i did find a chip with 24C64 labelled on it, and after i searched it on google it appears to be an epprom made by ATMEL also.

is this the right eeprom?

oh yeah, it has 8 pins, and is on the under side of the motherboard, under the SD memory card reader.

X41 uses PCA 24S08 that is an ATMEL 24RF08 clone. The procedure remains the same.

now how do i solder the wires to it?

do i have to worry about overheating the eeprom? can it overheat from the soldering gun? thank you!

Be careful with the soldering. You may hook up the GND to the laptop GND elsewhere, also you may build two probes using needles if you don't want to solder on the SDA and SCl pins, as Victor pointed out here:
