Hi,
I have two laptop toshiba M30, the first one is password protected, the second one unprotected but the motheboard is damaged.
I managed to replace the chip flash tsop m50fw040n1 (bios) on the protected laptop but someone tell me that the password is located not only in flash chip but also in the microcontroller which has a section of ROM (non volatile memory, it will hold data(i.e. the password, could even be encrypted too) even with cmos battery removed), I think rom is 128kb in size, the chip is M306K9FCLRP), the flash rom that communicates with this chip is a m50fw040n1 , the two are linked with a failsafe called a checksum check from which when compared the result should be 0000H this check is done against FFFFH.
Please should i change both of them or only the flash.
PS. changing the M306K9FCLRP is not so easy
