Many thanks for your help Victor - I have now successfully unlocked both my 380XD and 600E!!

The MAX232 driven circuit worked perfect - I modified an old Nokia data cable!!

The only minor problem I encountered was that I was initially trying to run the r24rf08 eeprom reader from the Windows "icon". The program started but did not work. All I needed to do was run from the DOS command prompt ie c:/allservice/r24rfo8 . The password decoder works great from the Windows icon.

The 380XD does not have a hard drive. But I used a DOS boot disk and it runs old DOS games great

The 600E is very stable and is running Win XP Pro. The only problem I have is getting the 600E to actually boot . It takes 5 to 10 switch on's before I get the memory check. I sometimes get 19153 error. I think its due to wrong memory module (I am using PC100 not the recommended PC66). It might also be due to the fact that it appears that the hard drive was originally installed in a T20 (system info says "registered to T20"). I don't have an XP Pro CD so I can't yet reformat/reinstall XP.

Victor, I'd be interested in your views on the 600E "5 to 10 switch on's before it boots" problem.

Hello, I also have a max232 data cable wich i used for prior jobs like unlocking voip adapters. I gess i can use that cable also to unlock my t40.

maybe you could post more details about how you modified your nokia data cable and if you did still needed a externel power source (batteries) ?
