Hi,

I am Cyril from France....

I have an IBM X41 locked, i've extract file on epprom 24S08 but there isn't password inside. How can I do to recover or cancel the password for the bios? May be the software W24RF08 works?

Thank's for your answer.

Bonjour Cyril,

Well, I need to see the dump to give you the solution. Anyway, if the 0x338 offset contains only blanks, then the SVP is not set and the laptop is locked only with the POP, that can be easily cleared by removing the 3V cell.

You may email the dump at support@allservice.ro

Bonne chance

The dump is full of junk, was a bad read. I need to know more about the interface you used...

1. Watch out the ground.
2. Do not swtich up the SDA with the GND or SCL.
3. If you have the MAX232 interface, make sure the batteries are new and you used the /x /d /i in command line.
4. close any other program before launching the reader. winamp too Smile

I use this interface :
2 x 2200 Ohm Resistors
2 x C5V1 Zener diodes (For example BZX55/C5V1 )
Serial Port 9 pin Female

I will try with an other soluce on the chip because the side i've use may be wrong...

Thanks'

I've just seen your pictures

You wired wrong the eeprom too! Do not try out cause you'll fry the motherboard.
See the picture that I have emailed you 2 minutes ago.

1. The DB9 females is wired wrong (mirrored)
2. The eeprom is wired wrong. It was your luck that the DB9 is wrong otherwise the mainboard could have been toasted by now!

Try hitting F9 in BIOS (load setup defaults). If that doesn't fix it. it could be the HD isn't seated correctly, bad hard disk or bad motherboard.
