Hi, I'd be grateful if anyone could give any advice for this problem.
I followed the tutorial (which is very good, thanks) to connect my technician pc to the ATMEL chip. I successfully performed a dump of the chip contents and opened it in IBMpass. I can clearly see the password written at 0x338 and 0x340. However, when I enter this password, it does not seem to work.
I also removed the 3V battery to reset the POP password. This seemed to give some progress: the laptop no longer asks me for a password immediately after booting. But now it gives an error (this machine has been tampered with) and asks for the password when I do any of the following: a) try to enter bios; b) try to enter boot device menu; c) just wait for 1-2 min after booting.
Is the password I read from the bin file correct? It looks genuine since it is at the correct location and contains an eight letter phrase.
Thanks. |
