Hi,

1- I searched for R60 but coudn't find much on the chip location...
2- when we buy the package, do we get the instructions to build the connecting tool and the required parts to do so?
3- I also have a T43, from what I red the same program/tool should work for it too?
4- If so, it it possible to get instructions for both models when I buy the software since the chip location is probably not the same?

thanks

Hello,

The software kit contain the manual for all the mentioned models, including the R60 and T43. The schematic diagram is in there too.

Hello Victor,

It is with a heavy heart that I relate the following series of events to you concerning my laptop. I attached the hardware interface to the secondary laptop, tested it with itester to make sure it functioned, and then proceeded to reflash the TPM chip. It was then that small wisps of smoke began to drift up from the motherboard. This unfortunate development was immediately followed by sparking arcs of light, which seemed to hop from component to component on the board, frying everything in its path. Shocked

Things really got out of hand when flames shot out of the side of the system and ignited a printout of the Password Recovery Procedure, which was sitting on the desk as a reference. At this point, I panicked, and threw the flaming papers into a wastebasket, which made things worse, of course. As you can imagine, I became even more distressed when the curtains near the wastebasket caught fire. Because of some quick thinking, though, I was able to grab the laptops and the interface device and flee before the rest of the house was engulfed in flames.

Me, my wife and our dog Max are now staying at a hotel in the area, and I am ready to attempt the reflashing procedure again. I wanted to first check with you to see if you had any guidance.

Ok, I'm kidding... The house is intact, and the procedure worked exactly as you said it would Smile. I soldered the TPM1 and TPM2 wires to large sewing needles, and then used a glue gun to create handles so I could grip them better. I soldered a little clamp to the ground wire, and placed it on the VGA connector as you instructed. After the TPM chip was reflashed with the known password, I rebooted, accessed the BIOS, and then re-enabled the biometric function (I had fingerprints enrolled for the HD password -- which I also had forgotten). Upon reboot, I swiped my finger, and voila! I was able to access the hard drive just fine!

I know I've already thanked you, but I'm very, very pleased I found your site on the Net, and am so relieved that I was able to unlock and retrieve the data from my hard drive. I had a lot of work on there, and the last backup I had done was two months old. Your software, interface and guidance were flawless -- bravo!!! Very Happy

Best to you and your family, and I look forward to see what new and interesting projects pop up on your web site. This experience has renewed my interest in electronics, and I've already started on another project.

Warmest regards,
Shawn

Hehe, yeah right, the dog's name MAX was the the icing on the cake Laughing .

Victor showed me your email yesterday, we were at a bar enjoying a cup of coffee (Victor ordered decaf) when he plugged his iphone and read that email. He really said the coffee taste seams a little bit strange after reading the first part. I don't drink decaf..

[Edit]

I think Shawn's humour has Eddie Izzard's style combined with Mark Twain's narrative technique. I loved how this part came in:

"..flames shot out of the side of the system and ignited a printout of the Password Recovery Procedure.."

then at the end when he was willing to try again, the hotel's doomed too..

Simply wonderful Very Happy

Ask to Victor
I don't understand one thing. We connect RS 232 interface to SCL and SDA data but we connecting it to set signal in RS232. Not do receiver or transmister. As I know receivcer which is on 3'rd pin of RS232 interface receive some data and then show it on display. How can you get it by DTR, CTS or RTS wire? These wires are only set signal which give sign about sending or receiving.
Could you explain me why we don't use 3'rd pin in RS232?

Your Sinecerely

Is not the topic here and it will take to much to explain. I only can say that even the data exchange is serialized, an I2C eeprom is not TX/RX (RS232-RS245) compatible. Therefore, RX and TX are useless.

RPC8394 is the base. The writer WPC8394 and TCPA reset service are needed if the passphrase option (Security>Password section) is enabled in the T60 BIOS. If you have access to BIOS in user mode you may check that, if not, you will only know when the chip is dumped.

Hi,

Yes, you may send only the board. But anyway, I can assure you the works are pretty much easy on the T60, you need the software, the interface and a spare PC.

You may email us for details support@...
