Hello!

I'm from germany, so my english is not as good as yours! Laughing

I want to unlock my t30 since i got it locked from a friend. I just tried to find a chip reader, but found nothing.

Now i want to build one myself. It should be the most simple version of it!

Would be great if someone could give me an instruction how to build it.

ive read that 2 2,2kohm resistors are needed but i dont know how much wattage they have to take.

So can anybody please tell me which things i have to buy to build it correctly.

Another possibility would be, that someone sends me his reader...

The resistors could be 0.15-0.25 Watt, the zeners must be 5.1V.

What means i need power supply when net soldered?

May I also use a resistor with 1w ??

Power supply is for stand alone eeproms, you wont need it. 1W is too big, but is good if you do not have smaller ones...

I dont have a proffessional soldering gun. So i want to try it without soldering..

Is that too risky or can i try it?

There's no need to solder. For SDA and SCL wires, just use 2 sharp sew needles as probes and clip the GND to the VGA out base.

Before trying anything, check the interface with itester (is in the reader kit).

So i really need to have calm hands to do this, if I unterstand you right, you mean to contact the needles with the chips sda and scl?

will it be very dangerous if i contact something else??

Hello!

I just ordered these diodes as they told me they are the right:

ZD 500 MW 5,1 V

and some resistors with 0,6w

So I hope this was right!?

The Db9 i'm going to take from an old mouse...

Hello!

My homemade atmel-reader worked pretty good, so i tell you what you have to do for unlocking a thinkpad t30.

I ordered some resistors and diodes from an electronic shop. (in germany from "CONRAD ELECTRONIC")

I also buyed an "universal connection extension lead" in a computer shop, because the cord of the old mouse only had 4 wires, so that wasn't enough to use it as the needed "DB9 female"

then i had a platform for soldering the units on it.

finding the right cables to connect was easy, because the extension lead has numbered plug like on the http://www.allservice.ro/forum/dl/simple-i2cprog.pdf

so if you have all these things together you can start to solder!

Remember the ground cable. You can solder them together, so you will need to connect it to one ground point at the end.

When you have finished soldering and you are sure you have done the right job you can begin with preparing the connection to the atmel chip, which is quite easy if you have a sewing needle.

try to form a hook from a single cable with your sewing needle. That should help to connect the cable with the atmel chip's arms.

Now if you have connected them (SDA, SCL, GND) properly and installed the reading software (R24RF08 v2.0b and IBMpass v2.1 Lite) which you can download here --> http://www.allservice.ro/store/utils/ you can begin with the unlocking procedure!

I will upload some photos here later if i've found out how..

first you have to start the notebook and press f1 until you get to the password prompt.

Then you have to wait until your notebook surely doesn't work anymore.

Then plug in your reader to com port of your pc, which will read out the password. (you can test the reader before with the itester.exe included in the reading software package 24RF08)

Then you have to open a console window by pressing start button>run>cmd or programs>accessories>

There you enter the following line to access the reading software:

c:\allservice\24rf08\r24rf08 t30.bin

now press enter and in a few seconds your .bin file which includes the password is created and saved in C:/

Now you run the program which is named IBMpass 2.1 Lite and open the .bin file

At least you have to press the enable/disable translation button and voila, your password appears in the line 0x330 and 0x340

Hope this will help some unexperienced people like I was!
