My IBM TP T30 is death Crying or Very sad after I did some steps by "solution how to get the supervisor password from eeprom" (I belive its nice way)
1. I soldered 3 wires to eeprom (power adapter and main batery was not inserted in NTB)
2. I made the simple circuit on serial conector - prepared interface
3. I conected the interface with 3 wires to eeprom wia soldered on wires small 3 pins conector - avoid to short circuit
4. Day after I prepared spare PC with serial port, sw R24RF08 and IBMpass but didnt use because...So I disconected the small 3 pins conector (wires from iterface to eeprom) before than inserted main batery to NTB, switched on the NTB bud only eLED ligths and screen is blank without backlight - since that is NTB death but I didnt try to get the dump.bin yet

What hapened? How should I test NTB what is wrong now? Is the eeprom erased or damaged? Where I can get the right content of the eeprom?
My TP is T30 modell 2366 23G.
HELP me please what should I do whith not working NTB.
Im skilled well in that soldering, repairing...I made everything properly.
THX for help.

There was a short circuit, usually when the Vcc pin is mistaken with SDA and shorted to GND.
Never solder the interface directly to the IC and never power the locked laptop with it connected! Instead, use 2 wires for the SDA and SCL and let them on air. Connect those 2 wires to the interface only at the proper time, for reading.

Besides T30 has an 8 pin eeprom which is big enough to let you use probes, no need to solder anymore. Remove the wires carefully and check that eeprom pins are not shorted...

THX for answer Victor!

I didnt solder interface directly to the IC - I used conectors to be able conect/disconect them at the proper time and keep wires separately without short circuit - how You mean.
So although my T30 doesnt work (blank screen) a couples of days since soldered wires to 24RF08 (my previous message), I tryed to get data from eeprom by prepared simple version interface. Successfully - nice easy work. Now I have the dump.bin, unsoldered wires out, no short circuit, bud NTB with black screen. (only LEDs light)

Victor, could You check my content of 24RF08 (dump.bin) if everything is OK? (I will send You the dump.bin) Im able to read the SVP from him, but not sure if other adresses are OK.
Why my T30 doesnt work? Mabye isnt hard question for You.

THX for your sw tools and answer!

We guess the reason is because a short circuit applied involuntarily, or could be that your zeners ain't quite 5.1v or an electrostatic discharge, etc.

Try the followings, remove the modem card and the NIC card (I think on T30 is the same card for these two), remove also the WIFI mPCI card. dismanlte the CMOS battery and main battery and power on the laptop without them. If it starts, put back the 3V CMOS battery and start puttin the subboards back one by one.

Sometimes, the PCI bus on old Intel got stucked in some strange state, maybe due to electrostatic energy that keeps the gates in some undesired on/off logics, also old board has old capacitors..
If nothing works, you have one more try...take a good and solid shotgun and do it like a man Laughing ...Good luck!

I forgot, take down the RAM too and let the board with nothing on it and power it on. Should you hear beeps then is all right.

The dump is super ok.
I am sorry, but seems like you have a power problem. I belive that could be the processor power circuits like the Vcc demuxer IC or a Power Mosfet.
I gotta tell you that the only possible cause is a electrostatic discharge or a short circuit. Next time is better to wear a bracelet connected to the laptop GND. I had done it myself once and I learn my lesson.

Good luck!

Tryed yours solution - still not good, no beeps after power on, only LEDs...
I finded by my finger that near eeprom is IC (IDTQS 3253Q - cmos fet multi switch) heating a lot during NTB power on.
I re-assembled all parts of NTB, motherboard out, checked by magnifier - no short circuit or solder crack or other defect.
Any idea? THX.
I have idea to buy cheap PCB from other T30 whith broken LCD to have spare parts...
Do You have any schematics of PCB T30 please?
