Hello,

Backup battery is doing the trick only for Power on password, so the answer is no.
Laptop is SVP locked and that requires to read 24RF08 eeprom.
Is a straight forward recovery, passphrase is not set so all you have to do is to follow the tutorial in this section and recover the password with R24RF08 and IBMpass 2.1 lite

Program are available here:
www.allservice.ro/store/utils

X41 often uses Philips PCA24S08 replika eeprom instead of 24RF08.

Good luck!

I have the same problem as shelver.

My chip is the R24S08.

I dumped the eeprom and translated it.

But the password is not correct???

0x330 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1a 44 4c 6c 2c 16 98 9a--------------f5 ZU
0x340 1a 44 4c 6c 2c 16 98 9a 88 c6 fa 03 83 c2 fa 02----f5 ZU

I have used this on many other laptops with 100% success.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks to all.

Looks like it is TCPA lock, but need to take a closer look at it -> support@

If confirmed you need the service and the writer license.

I have 16 of these that are locked!!!

There are a few places on-line and on E-bay that say they can do it for $20 US.

Hate to pay them for something I can do for less.

Thanks for your help.

The software is allservice.ro property, the service is offered by us.
You may download and install W24RF08 from www.allservice.ro/store/utils/ then see the registration form in the kit.

We provide support by email.
